3rd Annual Summit on Enterprise Telecom Expense Management Draws Record Attendance, Brings Together Top Executives
Premier Industry Event Delivered Best Practices, Panel Discussions and Analyst Sessions
Fairfax, VA, July 21, 2006 - The 3rd Annual Summit on Enterprise Telecom Expense Management (TEM) recently attracted more than 200 enterprise, telecom carrier, and government executives to share best practices and hear lessons-learned from experts who have implemented automated TEM solutions in their organizations. The Summit, sponsored by Rivermine, SAI, and Global Internetworking, is the largest conference in the TEM industry and was held on June 7 and June 8 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The first day included a Telecom Expense Management Executive certified training course delivered to close to 40 attendees by the Association of Telecom Management Professionals (AOTMP), while the second day included presentations and interactive panel discussions from Gartner, Fidelity, Sodexho, IKON Office Solutions, Verizon Business, Advocate Networks, RSIS, and MicroStrategy.
Rivermine President and CEO Mark Logan opened the Summit by discussing key industry trends. "Organizations are demanding greater visibility into, and control over, their telecom environments in the interest of bottom-line savings," said Logan. "Also, with issues like convergence and greater wireless usage adding more complexity to corporate telecom policies, many organizations are centralizing their telecom operations."
Representing Gartner at the event, research vice president Phillip Redman discussed enterprise wireless and telecom expense management and the challenges of inventory inaccuracies, security concerns and industry standardization. From the enterprise perspective, Reed McGoldrick, vice president of Fidelity Investments, shared her experience implementing an automated TEM program for the company. Fidelity's best practices included ongoing inventory management, training, and internal controls.
Other sessions at the Summit included interactive panel discussions on topics such as carrier mergers and acquisitions, TEM case studies, and the importance of applying business intelligence to the telecom environment.
